More growth, more networking, more innovation: the latest snapshot of benefit corporations

Rome, 26 October 2026 - New insights from the 2026 National Research on Benefit Corporations have been released, focusing on competitiveness, supply chains and local areas. 

As of 30 June 2026, the number of Benefit Corporations has risen to 5,968, marking year-on-year growth of 15.6% and an annual production value of €71.3 billion.

The adoption of the Benefit Corporation model emerges as one of the factors contributing to stronger business performance. This advantage becomes more pronounced when Benefit Corporation status is combined with strategies focused on quality, environmental sustainability and international expansion.

Professional firms in Italy reach 4,462, up 28% since 2023

26/10/2026. Professional firms are growing in Italy: 4,462 were recorded in October 2026, up 28% from December 2023. This growth reflects new regulatory opportunities and increasing attention to the organisational development of professional practices.

As reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, based on Business Register data analysed by InfoCamere, 2,077 firms involve chartered accountants, accounting for 46% of the total. They are followed by architecture and engineering firms (1,500) and firms involving legal and notarial practices (848).

North-West Italy leads both in the number of firms (1,505) and in growth since December 2024 (+29.3%). Key drivers include tax neutrality for professional business combinations and simplified rules for investors joining these firms.

“Analysing such detailed figures highlights the strategic value of public data,” says Paolo Ghezzi, Director General of InfoCamere.

Paolo Ghezzi on “Conti in tasca”: 15,000 Italian businesses in AI

24/10/2026 – Paolo Ghezzi, InfoCamere General Director, spoke on the "Conti in tasca" program on Giornale Radio, hosted by Sergio Luciano, to discuss the findings of a study on artificial intelligence conducted by InfoCamere in collaboration with the University of Padua.

The study identified around 15,000 Italian businesses that have made artificial intelligence central to their operations, generating a total production value of €21.5 billion in 2024.

“We set out to identify businesses using artificial intelligence in a genuinely transformative way, making it a core part of their business,” Ghezzi explained. These are mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, which can adopt new technologies quickly but still face challenges in finding specialist skills.

Artificial intelligence can boost productivity and improve business processes, provided companies have access to high-quality data and invest in training. As Ghezzi emphasised, the Italian Chamber of Commerce system is working to promote digital skills and help micro and small businesses seize these opportunities.
