Female Leadership Under 49 Resilient

10/05/2026 – Paolo Ghezzi, InfoCamere General Director, spoke in Il Sole 24 Ore commenting on data regarding the relationship between motherhood and female entrepreneurial careers.

"Business Register data – states Ghezzi – shows how female leadership under 49 is a structural component of our system: despite physiological numerical contraction, we notice persistence of the share of female directors in strategic sectors like education and services, showing resilience that defies stereotypes". InfoCamere data highlights that in capital companies, women under 49 represent 28% of directors, with particularly significant presence in education and training (45%) and accommodation and catering (32%), while declining in construction (16%) and energy (17%). Territorial analysis shows Sardinia (31%) and Sicily (30%) at the top, demonstrating according to InfoCamere young women's greater propensity for self-employment where unemployment is higher. "This data – adds Ghezzi – serves to overcome prejudices with a granular information base that allows seeing where barriers persist to intervene. Data quality is an antidote to decision-making myopia, on which to build evidence-based policies and not perception-based".
